This Louvre tour is your chance to uncover the stories behind some of the greatest artworks ever created, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (painted in 1506), the Greek sculpture Venus de Milo (dating from 100 BC and depicting the goddess Aphrodite), and Jacques-Louis David’s monumental Coronation of Napoleon (a 33-foot-long canvas painted in 1807 to commemorate the emperor’s crowning at Notre Dame Cathedral).

Before opening its doors as a museum in 1793, the Louvre was a royal palace for centuries. Today, its vast galleries cover more than 786,000 square feet, showcasing an extraordinary collection that spans over 7,000 years of history — from ancient civilizations to the 19th century.

The treasures are arranged across eight departments: Egyptian antiquities, Greek, Etruscan & Roman antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Islamic art, Paintings, Sculptures, Decorative Arts, and Prints & Drawings. With your guide, you’ll journey through these collections, hearing fascinating stories about the masterpieces and the artists who created them.

See Leonardo da Vinci’s enigmatic Mona Lisa, admire the timeless beauty of the Venus de Milo, and stand before the dramatic Coronation of Napoleon. At the end of your visit, you’ll have free time to browse the museum shops for books, prints, and souvenirs to remember your experience.
